In the 1930's, when Abraham was about twenty he decided to go back to Poland to see his family. His journey turned out to be a rambling adventure, as he was arrested in many countries for travelling without documents.

Thrown in jail many times and in different countries, he somehow always managed to be released. When he was freed, his jailers would advise him about where to go and where not to go.

They warned him about which borders had guards that would shoot you on sight. He must have been born under a lucky star. Somehow people always took a shine to him because they always let him go again.
