South Yarra is known as one of the world’s most fashionable and cosmopolitan destinations.Shopping, fashion and entertainment are features of South Yarra, with busy Chapel Street lined with exclusive retail outlets, cafes, and the popular Jam Factory shopping and entertainment complex. Around the corner in Commercial Road is Prahran Market - one of Melbourne's oldest, and boasting a large selection of gourmet foods and fresh produce.

The area has marvelous parks & gardens, the most famous of which is The Royal Botanic Gardens which are world renowned. The magnificent trees, exotic plants, vast lawns and spectacular bird life make this a special place to wander around or have a picnic.
The Yarra river features walking and bicycle paths running through parkland along the river bank with panoramic views of the city and riverfront available from the several bridges which cross the river. Herring Island, situated right in the middle of the Yarra River and accessible only by boat, is a 3 hectare reserve featuring BBQ and picnic areas, and a sculpture park.

 

Public transport to the city and St. Kilda beach IS AT YOUR DOORSTEP, and you are within walking distance of the famous Chapel St shopping precinct, Toorak Rd, with its up-market shops, cafes and restaurants, and the Alfred hospital.

As well, a short walk away are a charming park, as well as a fashionable hotel/restaurant available for your dinning pleasure. Across the road lies Fawkner Park.

You are also well catered for with a 24 hr shop located at end of the street, and Prahran market at the other end.

The central business district is a 10 minute tram ride or drive and Melbourne's Arts precinct and premier sporting arenas The MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Park Tennis Centre are close by. Public Transport is easily accessible.
